Good morning! Rise and shine all. I thought today would be a good day for an entry. Well, I dont know if every track and field athlete loves their event like I love long jump. Where else can you play in the sand as an adult. Cause let me tell you, people will look at you weird if you go to the park and play in the sand box. But as a professional long jumper, they applaud it at track meets! Everyweek before a meet, it is like my birthday. On monday I'm fine, training, focusing on the task for that day. By wednesday, I am antsy, excited, eager for saturdays. When Saturday rolls around, I wake up with a smile, knowing, today is the day. LONG JUMP! YEAH! I know it sounds silly, but you have to love what you do. I absolutely love what I do. I love the process, you have to in order to stay sane. I live for competions, but I enjoy my training. I leave for Kansas Relays tomorrow morning, so you know that means I'm excited! I am enjoying the opportunity now to compete at different stadiums, against different people. Like minded people who enjoy playing in the sand as well. The best part of my event is not the excuse for playing in the sand, but the opportunity to take off in flight. I know what it feels like to fly! More than anything I am eager to feel that over and over. After a good jump, where I feel like I sprouted wings and flew, I am once again inspired to do it again and enjoy the ride. Finding excitement in the little things helps keep the big picture that much more exciting.
Well off to practice, Funmi K. Jimoh
