Sunday Morning - 5:50 am. Getting up before the sun is no fun. As I sit in the Kansas City airport, awaiting my flight I figured I would drop a line. Well, Kansas Relays has come and gone. It was an interesting ride. I enjoyed my time here. This meet was a true test for me. New environment, different circumstances, everything. I did a little growing up here in Kansas. My jumps were not spectacular, but I achieved a few mental things in my head. Keeping the focus is still a priority and this was my test. How does one create stimulation, when it is not immediate? How does one block out overwhelming thoughts. How does one cope being alone for the first time at a meet. I got help in various places, and it is deeply appreciated. Being outside my comfort zone is a feeling I need to get used to and embrace. Kansas was my test. My mind was pushed to the limit more than my body this go round. I will take that, channel it, and come back better.
I am on a mission. 6.59 meters - I will take it, but believe I'm saving the best for last.
Keep Cheering for me! Now its nap time.
Funmi K. Jimoh

Hi Funmi, You probably don't remember me, but I am a friend of your mom and I've been following your athletic career since I spoke to you on the phone when you and your mom were living in Fayetteville, Ak. I am a fan of track and field and I used to run events and long jump myself many years ago. I just opened my gmail and had all these google alerts of your recent accomplishments. I wish you the best of luck and the strength of spirit to reach all of your goals. Although, as you well know life is full of challenges, but I believe that is where the real gold is, in the challenges. Continue to meet them with great spirit and determination and you will prevail. Many blessings to you and right on... Mr. K...

Hey Funmi! It is good to see that you are following your dream and having success. This is David, by the way. Man I have been wondering how you have been doing because i have been running at Rice and thought about you. Man I hope one day I can be as fast as you. I doubt it but maybe on a good sprint. Please e-mail your schedule so me and the wife can catch you from time to time. At least before the Olympics, because you will be on the team. Any way do well and catch up me when you can my number is 832-423-5840, if you have miss placed it.
