Good Afternoon all! Like I said, I won my first international meet in Kingston. If you know me, you know that I wanted to jump much better than I did. The winds were "squirley" as my coach Jim says! I was reaching like crazy and it wasn't until the last few jumps that I actually got near the board. All that aside, I won. I had some very good competitors in the field, so I will take it, and add this to the education of Funmi as a Track and Field Athlete. Lets talk about just having the opportunity to travel and compete in different countries! This is amazing. It is wonderful. I've never been to Jamaica, I've never been to any Island for that matter! I have a stamp in my passport! I am pleased, blessed and every good feeling you can think of. The number one thing I love about Jamaica, is their appreciation for the sport. They clapped after every jump. They interacted, and they came to the stadium en masse! I love it when people love track. I genuinely love it too, so I am so pleased when I can be surrounded by like minded people. I will be leaving for Doha tomorrow night. Everyone has told me spectacular things about Doha. I cant wait to see it. This time maybe I will bring a camera, but LJ is the #1 focus. I will see what I can do.
Finally, I would like to send out a wonderful, spectacular, stupendous congratulations to my coach, Jim Bevan and his new wife. I am sooooooo sorry I missed the wedding. I know it was beautiful, and I know the two of you were beautiful. There is nothing like finding the one for you. All the best to them for the rest of their lives.
Talk to you in Doha! Funmi K. Jimoh
