Hello Friends and Family,
Todays competition was a fight. There were many great jumpers out today. Everyone rose to the occasion. Some just rose higher.
I ended 4th. Yes, I am disappointed with my position. I always want to win. My jump was 6.80. My second best jump of the year.
I am pleased with my distance, but by no means satisfied. My goal is to jump 6.80's and 6.90's like its nothing, so seven meters comes when I put it all together. I'm getting closer and closer to that goal. I want it all today, I want it all right now. Despite that, I am wise enough to be patient and grow and aggressively pursue my goals.
So how am I feeling?
Ever hopeful, determined, and just a step closer to the medal stand.
Thanks for your support everyone! And thanks for the comments, keep them coming! They lift me up!
Until next time,

Keep up the determination Funmi !!!!

Hallo Funmi, somewhere I read that your major at Rice was philosophy (is that true?). I'm a PhD student in philosophy in Munich, Germany, who's at the same time a (hobby) sprinter (100m, 10,59s). How was studying at the same time being a world class athlete (course obligations, etc.)? In Germany, the connection between university and sports isn't important at all. But I think there are parallels between philosophy and sprinting (maybe long jumping too); e.g. Aquinas citing Aristotle: "A small error at the outset can lead to great errors in the final conclusions". I wish you good luck for the World's in Berlin. Christopher
