Oluwafunmilayo (Yoruba for "the lord brought me joy") Kemi Jimoh has, as a senior, enjoyed the confluence of her immense talent and insatiable drive. She developed into a world class long jumper, experienced success as a heptathlon newcomer, showcased proficiency in the 100 hurdles, and provided suggestions for reconfiguring the order of the sprint relay. As Rice prepares to host the C-USA outdoors track and field championships, Jimoh has emerged as the athlete to watch in the 100 hurdles (she holds the school record at 13.42 seconds), long jump (she has the fourth-best jump in the nation this year at 21-8 3/4 feet), and the sprint relay.
